Strange and uncertain times at the moment, but I’m focusing on my sketchbook and playing around with imagery based on plants. My project supported by VACMA Edinburgh began in January, and due to current circumstances it has taken a slightly different route, for now anyway. Formal gardens were the original focus, and so I am looking at more locally available source material including my own plants, photos I took previously, and carrying out research. I’ve been building up layers of collaged materials, stencilling, monoprint and incorporating a range of drawing materials. Rather like when I work with clay, I like to dip in and out of different drawing materials, including drawing ink, wax crayons, water based printing ink, pens and watercolour pencil.
